Kelvin Kirby is a distinguished professional with a significant history at Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU). During his tenure at PVAMU, he served as a Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department, contributing significantly to the academic and research landscape. His leadership roles at the university were numerous and impactful, including serving as Interim Department Head for Electrical and Computer Engineering and Engineering Technology, and as Associate Vice President for Student Affairs. Furthermore, Professor Kirby played a key role in significant research initiatives as Deputy and Managing Director of the NASA Center for Applied Radiation Research and the NASA Center for Radiation Engineering and Science for Space Exploration. His dedication to student success was evident in his role as Assistant/Associate Professor and Program Manager for the NSF HBCU - Undergraduate Program (STEM Enhancement Program) at PVAMU. Prior to his extensive career in academia, he served honorably as a commissioned officer in the United States Army, retiring at the rank of Major. Professor Kirby's research and publications from his time at PVAMU reflect a broad range of expertise, including enhancing student learning through disruptive technologies, advancements in radiation shielding and detection for space applications, and strategies for effective STEM education and outreach. His contributions to conferences and publications demonstrate his commitment to sharing knowledge and advancing his fields.
